Service details and options
Concept
Service details define what clients see when browsing your offerings. Options and variants let you capture preferences upfront so you can quote accurately.
Each service should have:
- Clear description and pricing
- Estimated duration
- Defined deposit amount
InkWell supports common option patterns:
- Required choices: the client must select within defined rules (for example, session length or placement area).
- Optional add-ons: the client may select extras (for example, colour work, cover-up consultation).
If required choices are incomplete or pricing is missing, the service may not appear correctly on your public page.
Why it matters
Good service configuration improves both client confidence and your quoting process.
- Clients submit more detailed booking requests.
- You spend less time asking clarifying questions.
- Quoting is faster when you have the right information upfront.
- Your public page gives a professional first impression.
The service setup is where operational detail becomes client experience. Small configuration decisions have a visible impact on booking quality.
How to configure it
- Open the relevant service and select Edit details.
- Enter a clear service name and practical description.
- Choose a pricing mode:
- Fixed price, or
- Starting-from range (for custom quotes).
- If using variants, ensure each has a label and price (for example, small piece vs full-day session).
- Add option groups where useful:
- Required choices (for example, body placement area, session length).
- Optional add-ons (for example, colour work, consultation).
- Set deposit amount — fixed amount or percentage of the total.
- Set estimated duration for availability calculations.
- Save and verify your public page displays everything correctly.
Keep options practical. Complexity should reflect real booking decisions, not every possible permutation.
How to verify it worked
After saving:
- The service appears on your public studio page with correct details.
- Required choices are visible in the booking request form.
- Pricing displays correctly for each variant.
- Deposit amounts are shown clearly.
Before going live, submit a test booking request to verify the full client experience.
Common mistakes
- Creating overly complex option trees that confuse clients.
- Forgetting to set deposit amounts.
- Missing variant pricing, causing services to display incorrectly.
- Leaving seasonal or paused options active.
- Using unclear internal naming.
