Compare tattoo studio software: a UK feature checklist

Work out what suits your studio. Compare enquiries, artist diaries, station space, 3D placement, waivers, payments and team costs, with dated sources.

By the InkWell team · Reviewed

Start with the features you'll use every week: tattoo enquiries, artist calendars, usable station space, client messages, consent and payments. Then check what your team's plan includes and which extras cost more.

Written by InkWell. This comparison uses the vendors' published information, checked on 15 October 2026, with the 3D placement row reviewed on 16 October and station capacity on 18 October 2026. It isn't an independent product test or a ranking.

Tattoo studio software feature checklist

Ticks show published features. InkWell's inclusions apply to every paid plan. “Not listed” means the feature wasn't mentioned in the reviewed sources. “Check” means confirm the details with the provider. Neither means unavailable. Packages and implementations vary.

For station capacity, we also reviewed InkDesk's studio calendar description, Tattoo Studio Pro's scheduling description on its pricing page and Vagaro's resource booking instructions. A team calendar or a reference to chairs does not establish how independent station limits work. Ask for an eight-artist, six-station demonstration, including cancellations and whole-shift reservations.Use the studio capacity checklist.

Compare plans and payment fees

  • Team capacity: count your artists, reception staff and managers. Check whether the price is per artist, active team member or bookable calendar.
  • Feature extras: check whether forms, messaging, reminders, websites and reporting are in the plan you're comparing.
  • Payment fees: separate the subscription, payment processor's charges, any platform commission and hardware costs. Confirm payment availability for your UK business.
  • Billing terms: compare the same currency and billing period, including annual commitments and introductory offers.

InkWell: Solo £29/month for one active artist, Small Studio £59/month for up to five, Studio £99/month for up to ten. All features and non-artist staff included. No InkWell payment commission; Stripe processing fees are separate. See current plans, fees and the Stripe example.

Choose the features your studio needs

Mark each feature as essential, useful or unnecessary for your studio. A solo artist may prioritise briefs, reminders and deposits. A shared studio may also need separate artist and station calendars, reception access and clear permissions. Check consent records and health-question handling if you're replacing paper forms.

InkWell brings enquiries, private conversations, quotes, artist calendars, optional station planning and digital consent together in the browser. It also includes studio-branded 3D placement guides, branding and custom domains. Each subscription covers one location.

If you need a physical till and card reader, a native mobile app, SMS, external calendar sync, automatic artist payout splits or management across multiple locations, confirm those requirements early. They aren't current InkWell features. Ask each provider about record exports and cancellation before moving existing data.

Test what happens after booking

Ask each provider to demonstrate a phone booking with no enquiry, an unpaid deposit reminder and a client reply after the appointment is booked. Check whether a reminder reuses the request and whether the conversation, quote and confirmed receipt stay together.

Then try a cancellation or no-show with money already received. Look for the agreed policy, a recorded retention or refund decision, staff permissions and a reviewed notification. For a completed tattoo, check the balance and aftercare follow-up. These are demonstration questions, not assertions about another provider’s implementation. The InkWell workflow was reviewed on 19 October 2026; the comparison’s vendor source dates remain shown above. Use the worked follow-up guide to prepare your example.

Try a short booking example

Once you have a shortlist, use a fictional tattoo brief with a reference, preferred artist and requested date. Send an enquiry, reply to a question, agree a quote and add the appointment to the diary. Check that you can find the conversation, payment status and consent record without switching between unrelated tools.

Use the free enquiry checklist and example as your brief, or see InkWell's booking features. You can set up InkWell and preview your pages privately without a card. Going live and collecting payments need an active subscription and the usual verification and payment setup.
